Axiom Space was founded in 2016 and has flown four private crews to the Space Station, most recently Ax-4 in June and July 2025; Ax-5 is planned for no earlier than January 2027. It plans a commercial station whose first module would attach to the ISS before flying on its own.

Axiom is now NASA’s only provider of new spacesuits for both the Moon and the station: Collins Aerospace, the other company picked in 2022, left the work by mutual agreement in 2024. NASA will rent spacewalk services rather than own the suits. In April 2026 NASA’s Inspector General found both suits at least a year and a half behind schedule; Axiom plans to be ready for demonstrations in late 2027, but at historical rates they might not happen until 2031.
